MHAF 23 | Darren O’Neill | Classical Guitar | November 24 1:00-3:00 pm | Harvest Bistro

Spend two hours with a master classical guitarist in one of Madison’s finest bistros.  

As a member of Trio Brioso (flute, viola, and guitar) Mr. O’Neill gave his Carnegie Hall debut in 1997 as the result of winning the Artists International New York Debut Competition that year.  As a member of the Nova Segno Duo (with Dennis Cinelli), he has performed and recorded on antique instruments from the historic collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was featured in the 2011 exhibition, Guitar Heroes!  He has also spent significant time editing and proofreading the re-engraving of works by Fernando Sor (1778-1839) under the supervision of Dr. Brian Jeffery, Tecla Publications.  

Darren O’Neill is a former Assistant Professor at Montclair State University and served as the Coordinator of Guitar Studies in the John J. Cali School of Music from 2012 to 2020.

Mr. O’Neill earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Castleton State University in Vermont and his Master of Arts degree in Music from Montclair State University in New Jersey.  Both degrees centered about guitar performance.  He earned his Master of Library Service degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey. He is currently the Director of Library Services at the Morris County Library in Whippany, NJ.  His career as a librarian has seen him working in the Music Research Division of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.  

Mr. O’Neill is an honorary member of both Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (music) and Alpha Psi Omega (theatre).
