Grand Street, Revisited: Book Launch Follow-up | Gallery Hours with Paul Rabinowitz | Friday February 9 | 3:00-5:30 pm

Following up their book launch on February 3, Paul Rabinowitz, author of Grand Street, Revisited will be on-site to talk about his collaboration with visual artist Anna Hershinow, and to offer some insights into the paintings generated from the project. Signed copies of Paul’s book will be available for purchase.

Grand Street, Revisited is a hybrid chapbook of prose, poetry, and visual art and the culmination of a year-long interdisciplinary collaboration between author Paul Rabinowitz and painter Anna Hershinow. In undertaking this project, both Paul and Anna decided to work in parallel to one another, creating two bodies of work, both entitled Grand Street, Revisited. This project underscores the idea that the truth of art can transcend its medium, creating fruitful and valuable conversations among its pieces.

Author Paul Rabinowitz invites his readers to ponder the role of history and memory in Grand Street, Revisited. Rabinowitz’s narrative empowers us to recall our own cherished trajectories as we tangle with profound matters, such as what is and is not fiction and why it might, or might not, matter.

Visual Artist Anna Hershinow invites viewers into her eight large scale abstract paintings, uniquely inspired by each of Rabinowitz’s writings. Vivid colors, maximalist layering, and juxtaposition of organic shapes and graphic elements lends itself to Rabinowitz’s emotive and narrative storytelling.
