COMPOSER, CONDUCTOR, EDUCATOR

Maestro Butts has conducted the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey in the Madison area for 25 years, developing the orchestra into one of New Jersey’s most dynamic ensembles, performing the widest range of music from the 17th to the 21st centuries, and collaborating with arts, culture, historic, and social organizations. His compositions have been performed in England, Italy, France, Poland, and Estonia. He teaches at The Casperson School of Graduate Studies, Drew University and lectures for many local programs and with the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. Maestro Butts received the 2019 Exemplary Leader Award from The Morris County Chamber of Commerce and was named 2019 Artist of the Year by The New York Classical Music Society.
