Christina Debarry
New Jersey pastelist Christina Debarry has enjoyed an extensive career with numerous awards, exhibits and organizational titles, but her most prestigious accomplishment came in 1997 when, in her role as the president of the Pastel Society of America (PSA), she served as a private citizen art ambassador to China. For three weeks traveling with a PSA exhibition and giving pastel demonstrations with 3 fellow artists. Beijing, Xian and Shanghai were main centers of activities.
Debarry currently is president emeritus of the PSA and has membership with the Audubon Society, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and the American Artists Professional League.
Debarry awards include gold medals in pastel from Allied Artists and the Audubon Society. She has garnered the Holbein and Dixon Ticonderoga awards from the PSA and was a guest honoree at Art du Pastel, Giverny, France.

Artists work from reference photos or direct observation …still life and floral setups available. We work in pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolor and drawing.
Basic academic elements of light, shadow, composition and color harmony are stressed. Students discover the quality of line, temperature of color, depth of space and the value of a given object and its color value.
Finished a paintings are strong interpretations of a given subject matter. Each work is unique in style, texture and composition.
